All PPC Open Firmware Startup Screens

After several weeks, I decided to pay someone BTC to use a capture card to record all the Open Firmware Mac bitmaps that currently exist. The quality is fairly impressive so I’ll just provide all the images below + an explanation of each.

Netboot.png

Network Booting

This icon would be flashing on the screen with the Mac is looking for a network disk to boot from, such as Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X.

Target Disk Mode

When booting your PPC Mac into Target Disk Mode, the FireWire logo will show up on screen. If you loaded it from the Open Firmware prompt, there will be a debugging console on the left of the screen as well.

Question Mark.png

Question Mark Folder

This is one of two folder icons that would appear on the screen if OpenFirmware is unable to find a bootable device.

FinderFolder.png

Finder Folder

This is the second folder icon that appears right after the Question Mark blinks on screen. The same reason as the previous icon, these two icons will keep flashing one after the other until an OS is detected.
